Mark Waddington (aka "Snark") Director / Captain
Mark first came to work for the Guided Discoveries family in 1994 as a sailing instructor at Catalina Sea Camp during his summers off from college. Once out of college he began working at CIMI at Toyon Bay. After satisfying some wanderlust, he came back to assist in the CTSE program aboard SSV TOLE MOUR in 2001. He has served as a Dive Master, deckhand/instructor, 2nd Mate, 1st Mate and Captain aboard the TOLE MOUR and has worked aboard a number of other vessels around the country. He became Director of CIMI Tall Ship Expeditions (CTSE) in 2005 and hasn't looked back. He also serves as Captain.

Mary Ichniowski (aka "Mad Dog") Program Director
Mary "Mad Dog" Ichniowsky grew up in Silver Spring, Maryland and attended St. Mary's College of Maryland where she received a degree in Biology. Mary made her way to CIMI in 2006 and worked at Toyon Bay for seven seasons as science instructor and sail instructor. For three summers, Mary sailed to warmer water, working as a program director for Sail Carbbean, cruising around the BVI (British Virgin Islands). She loves SCUBA, nudibranchs, spinning fire and orders a grilled cheese animal style from In-N-Out. Her favorite experience aboard Tole Mour has been seeing orcas off of Long Point with Manhattan Middle School.

| Rob Mizer Chief Mate
Rob is originally from Washington State but spent most of his youth in California. He is a long time lover of the water: SCUBA certified by 11 and an instructor at 18. He loves many other water sports and even dabbles in frozen water sports, having been a downhill ski racer as well. He got his start sailing tall ships on the brig Lady Washington. After sailing on various Tall ships for six years and even completing the Transpac aboard the schooner Lynx in 2009, he has now found a home onboard the Tole Mour. He is very excited to explore the channel islands while here. He also loves Disneyland

Holly Couling Instructor / Deckhand
Holly Couling is a proud member of team Mid-West. She grew up in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, and has five siblings. She graduated from Humboldt State University and has been tallship sailing for five years. Holly is passionate about Harry Potter, Jane Austen, and sea hares. When she is on land she enjoys dancing ballet and listening to NPR. Someday she hopes to have a dog.

| Jing Zhong Volunteer Deckhand
Jing was born in China, moved to England, and now calls North Carolina home. She is a 2009 graduate of Duke University with a degree in Marine Biology. Jing first dicovered her love for tall ship sailing while still in college, during a study abroad program. Since graduation, she has sailed on the Robert C. Seamans, Adventuress, Manitou, and now Tole Mour. The thing she loves the most about sailing on the Tole Mour is the wonderful marine life that the Channel Islands offers. When not sailing, Jing loves ballet and tap dancing, reading fantasy novels, and making crafts for herself and her friends.

Michele Barutha Second Engineer / Bosun
One "L" Michele was born and raised in the original dairy state of Wisconsin, and therefore, of course, she LOVES cheese! She left culinary school to pursue her love of working on the water and has loved every minute of it. She’s worked all the way from Alaska down to the Sea of Cortez and parts of the East Coast. After a four year hiatus from the Tole Mour Michele came back to enjoy more Southern California and dolphins and whales.

Emily Hall Beckett Second Mate / Bosun
Emily attended the University of Colorado and majored in Theater with a minor in Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences. She first fell in lovewith the ocean when she saw it from the first time when she was 20. In college, she sailed from Tahiti to Hawaii with SEA (Sea Education Association) on the tall ship Seamens and studied the spatial patchiness of zooplankton in the Central Pacific. She has spent every summer at camp for the past 18 years! Her favorite Tole Mour moments is swimming with a mega pod of dolphins.

Instructor / Deckhand
Bryce Kellogg hails from the mythical state of Jefferson. He has worked as a high school teacher, cowboy, dendrochronologist (a scientist who dates past events or climatic changes by studying and comparing growth rings in tree trunks), and tester for a bionic suit. He spends his free time paragliding, kayaking and backpacking. Bryce is among a number of former campers aboard Tole Mour who have returned as crew members. He sailed on the Tole Mour as a camper in 2004, and wanted to come back and share his experience with others. Bryce graduated last spring from the University California at Berkeley with a degree in forestry and natural resources and is excited to apply his knowledge to the underwater forests of kelp off California.

Eric Seabury Chef
Eric Seabury was raised in New York and started cooking at summer camps when he turned 14. He graduated from the Culinary Institute of America in 2007 with a degree in hotel and restaurant mangement. From there, he started working on cruise ships in Alaska, British Columbia, Oregon and Washington. He has also worked on ships in the Sea of Cortez. His tenure with Tole Mour began toward the end of the summer season, 2010. His most interesting hobby is helping set up and run dance marathons for charity, which he has done for his high school as well as venues in Virginia. When not cooking great meals, Eric is looking forward to learning how to sail a tall ship.
